Veteran’s Day 2016

Veteran’s Day origin

June 4, 1926, US Congress adopted a resolution, requesting President Calvin Coolidge to observe November 11 as “a day to be dedicated to the cause of world peace and to be thereafter celebrated and known as ‘Armistice Day’”.  A Congressional Act (52 Stat. 351; 5 U.S. Code, Sec. 87a) was approved on May 13, 1938, making it a legal holiday. It was later suggested in 1945 to expand to include all veterans from all conflicts. Many presidents from that time forward have contributed to the recognition of all veterans on that day.

What can we do today?

So much can be done to recognize and appreciate the sacrifice that our brave men and women make every day. A simple “Thank you” while walking past them or offering to pay it forward for them, is so heartwarming to a service member. Or having a special recognition event in their honor can be very significant. Gifts like patriotic plaques or awards are great ideas to complete a special event. Even if the service member is passed on, memorials are very important to the loved ones left behind.

Recognition is so important. Who doesn’t want to appreciate for their efforts? Whether the veteran or soldier is young or old, their sacrifices are to be well commended.

So to start a bit early…

Thanks to all veterans this Veteran’s day!!

Young and old, Male or Female, Alive or Deceased..

Your Sacrifice is not forgotten!!
